Yes I did! And what a summer it was. Three research cruises to the Gulf. Tons of work. Trying to fit in time with the family. I need to find some time to re-charge.
L1 started first grade this fall and I missed her first day of school because I was at sea. I was supper bummed out that morning, knowing I was missing her big day BUT her teacher sent me an e-mail with a couple pics of L1 on her first day. Best teacher ever!! L1 is also reading now! Her piano and chinese lessons have started up and I'm trying to figure out when we can fit in her banjo lessons.
L2 just turned 3!! I can't believe my baby has gotten so big. I woke her on her big day with a loud "Happy Birthday!" She sat up in bed, cracked her eyes open and croaked - "My birthday came?" It was super cute. I did a birthday party for her at school, then we had a pizza dinner (her fav) that night. Low key, but she is 3 and had fun.
We got the girls bunk beds this summer so they are now sharing a room. The spouse didn't think it would work, but it is way easier on me (one place for clothes, shoes and hair stuff) and the girls are loving it.
L2 also has gotten her first sprinkle of freckles across her cheeks. I am heavily freckled, her father isn't, so I was wondering if she'd get them. Looks like freckles are a dominant trait. (L1 was mad that L2 got freckles and she didn't so we had a little talk about DNA from birth-mothers)
I have done almost no spinning or weaving and just a little bit of knitting. Mostly hats. I am hoping that now my life will start to settle I can get back to some fun stuff. I am also going to try to get back to blogging. We shall see!
